Hiking holidays and weekends in the Vanoise mountains
at the CIS 'Maison de la montagne'
 
A lone walker or in a group, an amateur or a professional, the CIS can be a comfortable base for you to discover the Vanoise mountains, the Franco Italian border in the Mont Cenis pass and the Haute Maurienne from Aussois to Bonneval sur Arc.

  The hiking formulas of the CIS :

The CIS can propose day walks or treks (for groups only) from the middle of May with treks adapted to the season.

Daily walks are organised at the CIS with a local mountain guide to discover the numerous aspects of this high valley. A short transport is sometimes required to get to the beginning of the walk or to do a circular walk. Here is an example of a six day programme with two days on the border with Italy and four days in the Vanoise National Park.

  • 'Cirque glaciaire' of the Evettes :
    from the 'Ecot' village (2000 m) to the Evettes mountain hut (2616 m) and return to 'Bonneval' (1800 m).
  • 'Mont-Cenis' lake, in the footsteps of Hannibal :
    a tour of the lake, the dam, the 'fort de Variselle' and the 'chapelle Saint-Barthélémy'.

The Vanoise National Park

  • 'Plume-Fine' montain hut (2170 m) (CIS) :
    via the 'lac Blanc' (2246 m), the 'lac de Bellecombe' (2450 m) and the 'Plan du Lac' montain hut (2364 m).
  • 'Lacs de Lanserlia' (2750 m) :
    from the 'Plume-Fine' montain hut (2170m), via the 'Lanserlia' pass to the 'Bellecombe' car park.
  • The 'Vallonbrun' montain hut and the 'Pierre aux Pieds' (1780 m ) :
    from the 'Madeleine' pass (1752 m) via the 'Vallonbrun' montain hut (2272 m), and return to the 'Grattais' car park.
  • The 'Carro' balcony walk :
    from the 'Ouglietta' bridge (2476 m) via the 'Plan des Eaux' (2695 m), and return to the Ecot village.

Organisation

The mountain guide
These hikes and others are guided by local mountain guides who will try to share with you their love of the mountains and make sure that the day goes well. They'll find the right rhythm for the group, they'll organise the rest breaks and they'll tell you about many different aspects of the region, they may well prepare a fondue for you at the Plume Fine refuge ……

Transports
The CIS organises the transports to the start of each walk and will meet you at the end, this means that circular walks are possible and adds an extra luxury to your walking holiday.

Easy walks :
The surrounding area of the CIS and the high valley are full of walks for everyone. The 'Petit Bonheur' path, the 'Chantelouve' forest, the 'Grattais' path, the 'Biches' path and other paths are there to choose from. Everyone is free to choose his own rythm and his own programme.

Treks

The team of guides at the CIS can also organise a trek in the different areas in and around the Haute Maurienne. The 'Grand Tour de la Haute Maurienne', 'Grand Paradis' or 'Tour du Val de Suze' are all possible treks for which the CIS can provide the organisation, an itinerary and a guide.

  Special spring weekends  
 

For the long spring weekends the CIS proposes a spring hiking programme with two guided day walks in the Vanoise National Park. At the end of the winter it's the perfect opportunity to see nature waking up, the fauna still nearby and the contrast between the snow covered north facing slopes and the south facing slopes already green.

4 days long weekend :
full board, 4days/3 nights (from lunch day 1 to after lunch day 4)

3 days long weekend :
full board, 3 days/2 nights (from lunch day 1 to after lunch day 3)
